[ID 33] MODEL OF LOW COST COFFE YARD

INTRODUCTION: Investments in structure for drying coffee are necessary, with the majority of small and medium-sized coffee producers carrying out the coffee drying process in yard.
OBJECTIVE: This article aims to propose a low-cost coffee yard model that does not negatively affect the quality of the coffee.
METHODS: The pilot project was developed in a small property of 20 hectares, being 10 hectares of coffee, located in Patrocínio/MG, in the Cerrado Mineiro, where the necessary material for the development of the research was obtained. The coffee yard used for the experiment, already compacted, measuring 75 meters long by 12 meters wide, 900 square meters.
RESULTS: Based on the results presented in the experiment, we can highlight the feasibility of using the shade screen for drying coffee, being of low cost compared to other types of terraces used, also showing the capacity of drying the coffee without harming the quality of the coffee.
CONCLUSION: The use of shade screens proved to be resistant during handling, with a tractor among other equipment, in the processes of turning and piling up the coffee, as well as having much more affordable costs compared to other types of terraces.
