Abstract

INTRODUCTION: The search for alternatives to control nematodes is a reality in Brazil, some species stand out, such as Meloodogyne sp., which form galls and nodulation in the root system, hindering the complete and effective absorption of nutrients, including water, which is the main conductor. of solubles, crop rotation, incorporation of limestone in the soil are some alternatives for the attempt to reduce the population.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the influence of soil type and different doses of lime on the population of Meloidogyne sp. in tomato.

METHODS: Two experiments were carried out in a randomized block design. The first treatment consisted of the use of different doses of limestone, in the second treatment two different types of soil were used, yellow red latosol and fine construction sand, the following variables were analyzed, nematode population in a substrate composed of fine sand and red latosol yellow and egg concentration in the root system.

RESULTS: The results obtained were that the red-yellow latosol showed less nematode infestation, one of the hypotheses is that with daily irrigation, soil compaction may have occurred, leaving low oxygen levels, the result of the second treatment showed a reduction of nematodes in relation to the dosage of limestone, the higher the dosage for there is the smaller the population amount.

CONCLUSION: The fine sand allows better development of nematodes and the addition of limestone inversely reduced the amount of nematodes present in the samples analyzed in the laboratory.
